Bajaj Auto has taken a revolutionary step in the Indian market by launching the world’s first CNG (compressed natural gas) powered motorcycle, Bajaj Freedom 125. This bike not only promises fuel savings but also contributes to reducing pollution. Let’s look at various aspects of Bajaj Freedom and see how this bike can change the riding experience.
Bajaj Auto Engine and Performance
Bajaj Freedom is powered by a 125 cc dual-fuel engine that can run on both petrol and CNG. This engine generates 9.5 PS of power and 9.7 Nm of torque. The company claims that this engine is at par with any regular 125 cc commuter bike in terms of performance. This means that there is enough power and ride quality for everyday use.
Bajaj Auto Mileage and benefits of CNG
The biggest feature of Bajaj Freedom is its CNG mode. The company claims that this bike gives a range of up to 102 km in 1 kg of CNG. At the same time, this mileage is 67 km per liter in petrol mode. Overall, with a full tank of CNG (2 kg) and 2 liters of petrol, this bike can give a range of about 330 km. CNG is a much cheaper fuel than petrol, so the cost of running Bajaj Freedom will be much less. For example, given the constant increase in petrol prices, running on CNG can save a lot in the long run.
Dual-fuel technology feature
The best thing about Bajaj Freedom is that it can be run on both petrol and CNG. A switch is provided on the handlebar so that you can easily change the fuel mode. That is, if you are going to an area where there are no CNG pumps, then you can switch to petrol without any hassle. This feature helps the rider to be worry-free about fuel availability.
Design and Features
The design of the Bajaj Freedom is quite similar to the Bajaj CT 125. It has an evergreen style, strong trellis frame and a monoshock suspension. Also, the company claims that despite the CNG cylinder mounted under the seat, the Freedom 125 has the longest seat in the segment. Apart from this, standard features like headlight, taillight, digital instrument cluster and alloy wheels (in some variants) are available in this bike.
Availability and Price
The Bajaj Freedom is available in three variants – NG04 Drum, NG04 Drum LED and NG04 Disc LED. Their starting price is ₹ 95,000, ₹ 1,05 lakh and ₹ 1.10 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. This price falls within the range of 125 cc commuter motorcycles. However, it is important to note that the CNG cylinder is 125 cc.
