The Ampere Nexus, an electric scooter by Ampere, a subsidiary of Greaves Electric Mobility, has created a buzz in India. However, there is currently no official information about its availability or pricing in Dubai. This doesn’t preclude the possibility of a future launch though, so let’s explore the Ampere Nexus’s potential specifications and why it could be a compelling choice in the Dubai market.

Performance fit for Dubai’s climate:

  • Range: With a claimed range of 136 km on a single charge, the Nexus could conquer most daily commutes within Dubai city limits.
  • Top Speed: Reaching speeds of up to 93 kmph, the Nexus offers enough zip for navigating Dubai’s highways.
  • Battery: The 3kWh battery boasts fast charging, taking just 3.3 hours to reach full capacity. Ideal for Dubai’s hot climate, this minimizes downtime spent waiting to recharge.

Built for Comfort and Safety:

  • Variants: The Nexus comes in two variants, the Nexus ST and Nexus EX. While official details for Dubai are unavailable, the Indian variants offer features like a multi-patented twin suspension and a robust chassis for a comfortable and safe ride.
  • Braking: The front disc brake, a first for Ampere scooters, combined with a rear drum brake, promises reliable stopping power in Dubai’s traffic conditions.

Missing Piece: The Dubai Price

While the Ampere Nexus boasts promising features, the key question remains: what would it cost in Dubai? The Indian price range starts from Rs. 1,09,900 (approx. AED 12,200) and goes up to Rs. 1,19,900 (approx. AED 13,300). However, factoring in import duties, transportation costs, and potential dealer markups, the Dubai price could be significantly higher.

Dubai’s Electric Vehicle Push: A Potential Opportunity

The UAE government is actively promoting electric vehicle (EV) adoption. Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) offers several incentives for EV ownership, including exemptions on registration fees, Salik road tolls, and free parking. This creates a favorable market for the Ampere Nexus, if and when it launches.
